| This work consists of one photograph of a bower, a construction a Satin Bowerbird built. This species of birds build a construction of sticks on the ground. In this bower the male courts the female. The bower I photographed outside Sydney, Australia, is also decorated with blue objects this male has found close to his bower. When the bird lives close to humans they often takes cloths-pegs, bottle-caps and other blue objects which humans left behind. When they live in the rainforest they collect blue flowers and berries. I found out about this bird through a programme on TV and immediately saw parallels to my own interest in collection and my work. The photograph is presented together with my own collection of red objects (33 pieces) found at Svolvær, Lofoten, Norway in September 2001. |
