The last years I have travelled in connection with my art-projects, both short visits, like one week in Oxford, England up to a two month stay at Svalbard. On all my travels I have collected objects, most people call it litters, that have caught my interest. Everything started in 1999, when I did a project where I photographed objects collected in my neighbourhood outside Stockholm. Since then I found duplicates of these objects and my interest in what you can find along roads and pavements have increased.
Today I have built up several collections from different parts of the world, mainly Norway, since I travelled there a lot. The objects are not unique in any way and you can find them all over the world. My interest lies in the fact that they are mass-produced which everyone can recognise.
I am very selective when it comes to my way of colleting and I only choose objects that are no bigger than I can put them in my pocket. I prefer red objects and the ones made of plastic. In contrarily to other collectors my goal is to find as ordinary objects as possibly, not the unique. My different collections can be seen as a comparison material, where I am more interested in what bring different countries together than what parts them. The aim with my work is to one day present my collections as a museum, where the ordinary is in focus.
