The clothes-peg is a common object, cheap, mass-produced, and available in many colours, where white, blue and red dominates. This is the starting-point for this project, SYSTEMA CLYPEA, where I have investigated different kind of clothes-pegs ability to ally with each other. This means that I take apart different models of clothes-peg and then put them together again. Through the
models I have found in different shops I create new constellations. In some cases they cease to work as clothes-pegs and are transformed to new object with now obvious function. During the work questions about biology and genetics arise. I group the clothes-pegs by placing them in species and family by model
and colour, and then incorporate them in a system where it is clear how they relate to each other. Today my collection consists of 179 different combinations. Each model is combined into new colour combinations, and then the models are combined with each other as long as the clothes-peg in each package lasted. This resulted in 21 different “families”. The clothes-pegs which today are part of the collection where all bought in Norway. I will during my travels collect clothes-pegs in order to expand my collection. |
